Differentiating Secondary Dengue Using IgG/IgM Antibody Ratio: A Cross-sectional Study

نویسندگان

چکیده

Introduction: Dengue is a viral infection with diverse clinical manifestations. Infection in most of the patients subclinical. It may also present as undifferentiated fever, severe dengue like Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF) and Shock Syndrome (DSS). Secondary predisposes to dengue, serious threat community they increase morbidities mortality. The diagnosis secondary either by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) detect serotype or IgG/IgM antibody ratio. A ratio more than 1.1 evidence dengue. Aim: To find out prevalence measuring anti-IgG/IgM Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) test. Materials Methods: This cross-sectional observational study was conducted at Government Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai for period six months from July 2021 December 2021. Sample size 450 calculated 95% confidence level, (CI 28.3-38.3) 33.3% prevalence. Blood samples were collected Nonstructural Protein 1 (NS1) antigen assay done. IgG IgM antibodies assays done NS1 positive individuals. who both IgM. Statistical analysis Package Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0. Percentage, mean standard deviation calculated. Results: Total included, which 194 positive, 106 males 88 females age 25±14.85 years. 89.17%. Two-tailed Fisher’s-exact test showed significant proportion among An >1.1 found 62.04%. association between thrombocytopenia [p-value=0.00504, Odd’s (OD) =3.316]. Conclusion: on third day symptom onset platelet count assist early thereby helps clinicians initiate appropriate treatment right time, reduce mortality rate decrease economic burden country.

Differentiating secondary from primary dengue using IgG to IgM ratio in early dengue: an observational hospital based clinico-serological study from North India

BACKGROUND Secondary dengue causes more severe disease than the primary. Early on, it is important to differentiate the two. We tried to find important clinical and laboratory differences between the two for the purpose of early differentiation. METHODS One hundred fourteen patients confirmed on reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT PCR) were studied. On day 2 of illness IgM and...

Thromboelastometry analysis of thrombocytopenic dengue patients: a cross-sectional study

BACKGROUND Dengue virus infection (DVI) is a prevalent and potentially fatal viral disease associated with coagulopathy. So far, the coagulation profile of DVI patients with thrombocytopenia has not been assessed through a viscoelastic test such as rotational thromboelastometry. We aimed to describe the prevalence and characteristics of coagulation abnormalities in dengue fever outpatients with...
